HEBER SPRINGS, Ark., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Country singer Mindy McCready and her 5-year-old son have been located safe in Arkansas after disappearing amid a child-custody squabble, officials said.
McCready, 36, and son, Zander, were found Friday night hiding in a closet at a home in Heber Springs that belongs to McCready's boyfriend and was being watched by law enforcement officers.
David Rahbany, chief deputy U.S. marshal in eastern Arkansas, said no charges were filed; however, it was not clear if McCready would be charged in the future with taking Zander from his legal guardian in Florida three days ago.
People magazine said McCready's parents currently have legal custody of the boy. The singer, who has struggled with drug addiction in the past, wrote on her Facebook page Tuesday she had been "fighting the Florida court system to protect my son, and bring him home."
Zander was placed in protective custody pending his return to Florida.
