LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- British rock band Black Sabbath says it plans to release a new album through Vertigo/Universal and go on an extensive concert tour next year.

Billboard.com said this will mark the group's first studio album with original lead singer Ozzy Osbourne since 1978. Rick Rubin is producing the CD.

Members of the group discussed their plans at a news conference Friday at the Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles. The venue was where Black Sabbath played its first LA show 41 years ago, Billboard.com said.

The group is scheduled to headline Britain's Download Festival next June and its new, as-yet-untitled album is expected to be released in the fall.
