MANILA, Philippines, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A suspect in the stabbing death of the estranged father of "Glee" actress and singer Charice has surrendered to police in the Philippines, officials said.

Ricky Pempengco, Charice's 40-year-old father, was killed Monday.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported on its Web site Angel Capili Jr. was taken into custody Thursday.

No other details were immediately released.

Charice, a 19-year-old singer who plays a recurring role on the American TV show "Glee," has said in the past she and her father were not close after he and her mother separated when she was 3.

However, she posted messages on Twitter expressing her affection for him and the grief she feels over his death.

"I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my dad after all," Charice said on Twitter Tuesday.

She also canceled her scheduled concerts with David Foster this week in Singapore.
