Closing arguments set for Conrad Murray trial

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- The lawyers in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's personal physician rested their respective cases Tuesday in Los Angeles.

USA Today reported Dr. Conrad Murray also announced he would not testify at the trial overseen by Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor.

The trial, which began in September, included testimony from 33 prosecution witnesses and 16 defense witnesses, as well as 350 exhibits, the newspaper said.

Pastor scheduled closing arguments for Thursday and jury deliberation could start the same day, USA Today said.

Jackson died June 25, 2009, at age 50. Lethal levels of sedatives and the anesthesia propofol were found in his system.

Murray, the pop star's personal physician, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly giving Jackson the drugs to help him sleep, and then failing to come to his aid when he was in distress. Murray has denied any wrongdoing.
