LONDON, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- British singer Adele will undergo surgery for persistent throat problems and has canceled all performances through the end of the year, a representative said.

A release on the singer's Web site said doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and "completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments."

The Grammy winner canceled her sold-out U.S. concert tour this due to a hemorrhage into her vocal cord.

Adele has dominated U.S. record charts this year. Her single "Someone Like You" is spending a fifth week atop Billboard's Hot 100 song chart and her singer's prior single, "Rolling in the Deep," led the Hot 100 for seven weeks beginning in May, making Adele the fourth woman in the chart's history to reign for at least five weeks with multiple songs in a year, Billboard reported Wednesday.

Her album "21" is enjoying its 13th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
