NEW YORK, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- VH1 is reviving its "Divas" franchise with a tribute to cities that nurtured the soul music that inspires today's music, the network said Thursday in New York.

Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson and Jessie J will perform on the telecast, which will premiere Monday, Dec. 19 at 9 p.m. EST on the cable network.

"This year's telecast will showcase the vast impact soul music has had on the 21st century's music and pop culture landscape as our talented and diverse lineup will attest," VH1 executive Lee Rolontz said in a release. "This year's Divas offers a modern twist on soul music, all while tipping its hat to the legacy of key cities that created this musical heritage."

The cities honored in the program include Chicago, Detroit, London, Memphis and Philadelphia, VH1 said.
