ATLANTA, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- The late James Brown was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Atlanta, the organization said.

Brown, who was born in Augusta, was a co-owner of WERD and WRDW-AM in his hometown as well as stations in Baltimore and Knoxville, Tenn.

The famed soul singer died in 2006 and was one of seven hall members to be inducted posthumously, the August (Ga.) Chronicle said.

Also inducted Saturday was another Augusta product, Harley Drew, who broke into radio in the 1960s and continues to anchor the morning news on WGAC, Augusta.
