CARDIFF, Wales, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A tribute concert honoring Michael Jackson featured Motown and pop superstars amid some controversy in Cardiff, Wales.
The Michael Forever tribute showcased performances by Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Ne-Yo, Jaime Foxx, Smokey Robinson and Gladys Knight, among others Saturday night.
Some fans were upset by the profit-making nature of the tribute, with one saying it was "nothing more than a money grab," The New York Times reported Sunday.
Michael's brother Marlon Jackson said fans "have a right to feel whatever they feel."
"But we knew our brother better than anyone else, and we want to remember the positive things about him," he said to The New York Times.
Other musicians offered offered up fond memories of the King of Pop.
"Michael was such a very special and gifted young man," Motown singer Smokey Robinson told the BBC. "He grew up around me and I saw him develop into a man who inspired generations of people and musicians."
