LAS VEGAS, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A Las Vegas judge has granted a request by Vince Neil's lawyer to postpone the start of the rocker's trial on a battery charge, officials said.

The 50-year-old Motley Crue singer was to go on trial this week for allegedly poking his ex-girlfriend in the chest during a show at the Las Vegas Hilton last March.

The Las Vegas Sun said his attorney asked the court for an "emergency continuance," which was granted even though the circumstances of the emergency were not related.

The trial is set to begin Nov. 7, the newspaper said.
