LOS ANGELES, July 23 (UPI) -- U.S. pop princess and onetime brunette Katy Perry took to Twitter this week to fill fans in on yet another change of hair color.

Perry has ended her one-month experiment with red hair and appeared on MTV as a blonde, which People magazine said Saturday was her natural color.

Fans have been kept abreast of the transformation through social media, so losing Perry's trademark jet-black hair wasn't a total surprise.

People said Perry tweeted her decision to go red a few weeks ago, and then admitted the new color had not turned out exactly the way she wanted because it had been black for so long.

Perry has every reason to want to get things right as soon as possible. Parade magazine noted this week she had been nominated for nine MTV Video Music Awards, including three for her hit song "Firework."
