SAN FRANCISCO, July 21 (UPI) -- Music icon Diana Ross is to perform her first concert in San Francisco in more than 40 years, the show's promoters said Thursday.

Ross is to take the stage Sept. 16 at the Golden Gate Theatre. She last performed in the city with her group The Supremes at the Fairmont Hotel's Venetian Room in 1969.

"Diana Ross, her music and her voice are legendary," organizers Rick Bartalini Presents said in a news release. "The concert, a full theatrical experience, will include breathtaking costumes and stage design, along with a live string and horn section."

Ross has sold more than 100 million records and recorded 18 No. 1 songs.
