SOUTHROP, England, July 2 (UPI) -- Security surrounding the wedding of supermodel Kate Moss was tight and folks in the British village of Southrop said it was probably too much.

Moss and rock musician Jamie Hince tied the knot in picturesque Southrop behind a phalanx of Gloucester police and private security guards.

The security kept the paparazzi and other crashers at bay, but it also caused detours and traffic jams as well as miffed locals who didn't appreciate the disruption.

"We're treated as peasants," one customer at the Swan pub told The Guardian. "The cordon goes round for miles; it is ridiculous."

Another fellow told the newspaper the whole fuss was "disgraceful" and added: "We hardly ever see a copper down here and today you can't move for them. Shouldn't these police be out catching criminals rather than standing around in the sun?"

All seemed forgiven after the ceremony. The Hinces emerged to cheers and waved to the crowd of onlookers that had been allowed to gather outside the church once the event was under way.
