NEW YORK, June 21 (UPI) -- Former music manager James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond was arrested in New York Tuesday and charged with heading a cocaine trafficking ring, officials said.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency confirmed Rosemond's arrest to MTV News.

Rosemond has been on the run since warrants were issued for his arrest last month. He was arraigned in Brooklyn on charges of conspiracy to distribute in excess of five kilograms of cocaine and is being held without bail, a DEA representative told MTV News.

Rosemond's lawyer, Jeffery Lichtman, said the case against the rap-music executive was "built on the backs of people that have lied and cheated, have been threatened, have been bribed by the government."

Prison inmate Dexter Isaac recently told AllHipHop.com Rosemond paid him $2,500 to rob and shoot Tupac Shakur in 1994.

Lichtman told MTV News Isaac's story is false.

Shakur survived the 1994 assault but was fatally gunned down in 1996.
