Winehouse leaves London rehab

LONDON, June 2 (UPI) -- British soul singer Amy Winehouse has left a London rehab after completing a week of treatment for alcohol addiction, her spokesman said Thursday.

The 27-year-old Grammy Award-winner has been largely absent from the public eye in recent years while she battled addictions to drugs and alcohol.

She is expected to return to the spotlight this month with a string of European concerts.

Britain's Mail Online said Winehouse downed a miniature bottle of vodka on her way to check in to the southwest London branch of the Priory Clinic, where she was working to get her drinking under control.

"Amy Winehouse has completed her assessment at the Priory Clinic in London and will continue as an outpatient," the Web site quoted Winehouse's spokesman as saying. "She is now looking forward to playing shows around Europe this summer and is raring to go. She would like to send a huge thanks to all her fans for the messages of support she has received over the last week and can't wait to see them."
