NEW YORK, May 10 (UPI) -- The Broadway musical "Wonderland" is to close Sunday after 31 previews and 33 regular performances, the show's producers announced Tuesday.

The stage adaptation of Lewis Carroll's 19th century fantasy novel "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" began previews March 21 and opened April 17. Starring Janet Dacal, Darren Ritchie, E. Clayton Cornelious and Jose Llana, the show features book and direction by Gregory Boyd, music by Frank Wildhorn and book and lyrics by Jack Murphy.

The production will play a national tour. Dates and venues are to be announced soon, the show's producers said in a news release.

No reason was given for the closure but Playbill.com noted the musical wasn't a big hit with critics this season.
