TORONTO, May 7 (UPI) -- A Canadian doctor says he is undaunted by being locked up for allegedly stalking singing star Shania Twain.

Dr. Giovanni Palumbo said in a jailhouse interview with the Toronto Star he still is smitten by "Ms. Twain," who he insists is what people should call her.

"It's improper to call someone by their first name unless you know them," he told the newspaper. "It's Ms. Twain."

"I haven't lost anything," he said in the interview published Saturday. "I have my spirit and that is everything."

The Ottawa physician was arrested in March for showing up uninvited at the Juno Awards in Toronto and was jailed for violating a court order to keep his distance from the singer.

The Star said Palumbo denied being bipolar and said his lawyer was trying to arrange a personal meeting with Twain.
