NEW YORK, May 3 (UPI) -- Recording artist Stevie Nicks has canceled several New York appearances because she is suffering from pneumonia and the flu, her publicist said.

Nicks was scheduled to perform at a party her label Reprise Records was to throw in her honor Wednesday at Manhattan's Webster Hall. She was also planning to be a guest on the "Today" show and "Good Day New York" Tuesday.

The appearances were to support this week's release of her latest CD, "In Your Dreams."

Her representatives said her doctor instructed her during the weekend to "stay in bed and not fly" until she gets better.

"I want to apologize to all my fans and hope that we can reschedule and, of course, I hope you love the new album. It's for you," Nicks said in a statement.
