LOS ANGELES, April 28 (UPI) -- U.S. rocker Richie Sambora has checked into rehab to be treated for exhaustion and to focus on his sobriety, RadarOnline reported.

The 51-year-old Bon Jovi guitarist has long battled addictions to drugs and alcohol.

"Richie recently has been drinking too much, and wants to get his life together," a source told RadarOnline.com.

"Richie has had a busy year," a second insider told the Web site. "I think this was a culmination of all the things that overloaded his life and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself."

It was unclear Thursday how Sambora's treatment at the undisclosed location would affect the band's scheduled concert dates.
