LONDON, April 12 (UPI) -- Mitch Winehouse, the father of British soul singer Amy Winehouse, has recorded his own debut album, "Rush of Love."
Mitch Winehouse, 59, is a former cab driver. His CD, which is on sale now, is described in a press release as "his own collection of smooth jazz and swing crooning."
"We love singing in our family," Mitch Winehouse said in a statement Tuesday. "I was always singing at home. But this is a dream come true and musically, it's a great album."
He admitted he is also realistic about the assumptions some might make about his new career.
"If Amy wasn't my daughter, I wouldn't be given this opportunity. I'm not stupid, I know that. But if I couldn't sing I wouldn't have been given the opportunity either," he said.
