'Artists Den' to air Costello concert

NEW YORK, March 24 (UPI) -- Rock 'n' roll icon Elvis Costello has taped a performance for the third season premiere of the U.S. series "Live from the Artists Den," its producers said.

The music program will return to public television April 1.

In the first episode of the new season, Costello is seen performing with his band, The Sugarcanes, at the New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

"My library book is so overdue that I'm expecting to get in a lot of trouble later," Costello said before his show. "There's something definitely different about playing in New York Public Library. There's not many venues I play that have big stone lions outside."

Costello's episode is the result of a private concert he performed Nov. 2, 2010, for 500 fans in celebration of his latest album's release that day.

He and his band played new songs from "National Ransom," as well as hits spanning his three-decades-and-counting career, the producers of "Artists Den" said in a news release Thursday.
