Suit against Dr. Dre dismissed

DETROIT, March 20 (UPI) -- The Michigan Supreme Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by several Detroit police officers against hip hop artist and producer Dr. Dre.

The lawsuit grew out of a backstage confrontation at a 2000 concert featuring Dr. Dre and Eminem, WEYI-TV, Saginaw, Mich., reported Sunday.

Gary Brown, a former Detroit police official who is now a Detroit City councilman, threatened to have the power shut off at the concert venue if show organizers showed a sexually explicit video.

The confrontation between police and Dr. Dre ended up on the "Up in Smoke" tour DVD, and the plaintiffs filed suit claiming it violated their right to privacy.

The Michigan Supreme Court, in a 6-1 ruling, said there is there is no right to privacy when police are doing their jobs.
