NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- The producers of Broadway's "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" were slapped with three safety violation citations Friday, The Hollywood Reporter said. The $65 million musical is directed by Julie Taymor, and features music by U2's Bono and The Edge. It has been in previews since November.

The production's official opening has been delayed numerous times due to creative problems and technical snafus, some of which have led to the injury of actors and crew members. The show is currently slated to open March 15.
"Employees were exposed to hazards of falls or being struck during flying routines because of improperly adjusted or unsecured safety harnesses. An additional fall hazard stemmed from unguarded open-side floors that lacked fall protection," The Hollywood Reporter quoted the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration as saying in a statement.
OSHA claimed producers "failed to shield employees from being struck by moving overhead rigging components," the entertainment industry trade newspaper said, adding the producers have 15 days to appeal the $12,600 fine.
