LAS VEGAS, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Recording star Bruno Mars has pleaded guilty in a Las Vegas court to possession of cocaine as part of a plea deal, officials said.

The 25-year-old singer entered the plea in Clark County District Court Wednesday, the Las Vegas Sun said.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to pay a $2,000 fine, undergo drug counseling and perform 200 hours of community service.

Under the terms of the deal, the case will be dismissed if Mars stays out of trouble for a year, the Sun noted.

Mars was arrested at the Hard Rock Hotel in September after police allegedly spotted him in a bathroom with a bag containing 2.6 grams of cocaine, the newspaper said.
