YONKERS, N.Y., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- A group of high school girls in New York say their informal Justin Bieber fan club almost got them suspended because it crossed school rules on gang attire.

The four students at Roosevelt High in Yonkers told TMZ.com they wore T-shirts to school with "Bieber Krew" emblazoned on them this week, but were blocked by campus security personnel who told them their T-shirts were "gang related."

The girls wore their T-shirts the day after they had seen a premier of Bieber's new movie, "Never Say Never," which The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday had pulled in a whopping $12.4 million on its general opening Friday.

TMZ said Saturday the incident resulted in a sit-down among the girls, their parents and school officials who warned them a suspension would be ordered if they wore the T-shirts to class again.

"It's ridiculous," one parent told TMZ. "They're good kids who love Justin Bieber."

A school representative told TMZ the teens were never accused of being in a gang nor is there a ban on apparel showing Bieber's image.
