NEW YORK, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- U.S. music icon Aretha Franklin, who reportedly has been treated for pancreatic cancer, says her health is now superb.

The 68-year-old artist dubbed the Queen of Soul has not confirmed she was diagnosed with the disease, but her representatives have said she underwent surgery to treat an illness and the operation was successful.

Asked by phone on Wednesday's edition of "The Wendy Williams Show" how her health is, Franklin replied: "My health is superb. It is superb."

Franklin went on to tell Williams she is spending a few days of her recovery time at a casino hotel in downtown Detroit because she "wanted to change the scenery."

"I do still have two more weeks of down-time before I can get out," Franklin said.

The singer said she is working on rescheduling the concert dates she missed while dealing with her health crisis.

"All of the dates I had to cancel -- Radio City, Kansas City, Washington and Virginia -- will be rescheduled right off the top," she told Williams.
