LEEDS, England, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- A heavy metal music fan was beaten to death after two men set his friend's hair on fire at a Motorhead concert, British police say.

Andrew Crawford, 44, was attending the concert in Leeds with his cousin and a friend when two men set fire to the friend's hair, Britain's The Sun reported.

After the upset friend left the concert to go home, Crawford and his cousin confronted the two men and a fight ensued.

Crawford was punched repeatedly and knocked to the ground, the newspaper said Saturday.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he died of his injuries.

Crawford's cousin was also injured but not seriously, police said.

West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Inquiry team has begun a murder investigation and asked the public for its help.

"I am convinced that members of the public will have vital information," Detective Superintendent Paul Taylor said.

"I would urge those people to come forward," he said.
