NEW YORK, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- The first official single from the late Michael Jackson's forthcoming album "Michael" is to be released on his Web site, then through digital outlets.

Epic Records and his estate said Friday the song will be released globally Monday at 12:01 a.m. EST.

"Hold My Hand," a 2007 duet Jackson recorded with Akon, will be featured on www.michaeljackson.com and released for sale digitally afterward.

"The world was not ready to hear 'Hold My Hand' when it leaked a couple years ago," Akon said in a statement. "We were devastated about it. But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I'm so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all-time idols."

Epic Records is to release the 10-track CD "Michael" Dec. 14 in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson.
