SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- TV personality and author Kathy Griffin is to serve as host of the upcoming "VH1 Divas Salute the Troops" special, the U.S. cable network said Wednesday.
The collaboration between VH1 and the USO is to air Dec. 5.
Griffin is to preside over the special at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego.
"After having had the honor of performing for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, it gives me great pleasure to host an evening for them where they can really blow off some steam. I will not hold back, but I can't speak for Sugarland. It's going to be a wild night of great music and a heartfelt thank you," Griffin said in a statement.
Previously announced performers include Katy Perry, Sugarland, Keri Hilson, Nicki Minaj and Paramore.
