NEW YORK, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Pop star Jessica Simpson told People magazine she's thrilled to be in a "normal" relationship with beau Eric Johnson, adding he's the one for her "right now."

"This [relationship] is just normal, thank God. He's very, very supportive. [I] couldn't ask for a better man in my life right now," Simpson told People Thursday in New York after performing songs from her Christmas album for a PBS Thanksgiving special.

When asked if Johnson, a 31-year-old former NFL tight end, is her one and only, the 30-year-old Simpson replied, "I never go to that because I already went there, so, I'm not gonna jinx my own self. He's the one for me right now! I'm very happy, I'm in a great place and if right now could last forever, I'd take it."

Simpson was married to Nick Lachey for three years and has had public romances with another football player, Tony Romo, and musician John Mayer.

Simpson said she and Johnson plan to spend Thanksgiving in New York with their families.

"I'm gonna be on a [Macy's parade] float. It's not always the best way to spend a Thanksgiving, but it's a great way to celebrate. So, maybe I'll just have all families on the float," she said.

"As far as Eric and I go, we're just best friends. He's my dude! I love him."
