YORK, England, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- "Matilda, a Musical," based on Roald Dahl's novel, is scheduled to open at England's Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, a tourism company announced.

Dennis Kelly adapted the book for the stage and the Royal Shakespeare Company show features music composed by comedian Tim Minchin.

It is set to open Nov. 9.

The tour operator Superbreak, based in York, said it has secured a number of hotel and ticket packages ahead of the musical's opening and hopes the addition of the new show to its theater vacation program will provide customers with an alternative to London theater excursions.

"'Matilda, a Musical' is going to charm both parents and children, I'm confident it's going to be a huge hit. The RSC in Stratford is becoming increasingly popular with our theater break customers who are more and more willing to venture out of the capital to see great theater," Superbreak's head of theater David Thomas said in a statement Friday.
