NEW YORK, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- U.S. entertainer Marie Osmond has penned a how-to book about sewing gifts for loved ones, publishers Martingale & Co. said Tuesday.

"Marie Osmond's Heartfelt Giving: Sew and Quilt for Family and Friends" is to be released Nov. 9.

Its publisher said the book offers a rare look at some of Osmond's favorite childhood photos, as well as step-by-step instructions for more than 20 projects the celebrity designed.

"I hope, like me, you fall in love with making handmade gifts … . It's always those gifts we make and give with all our heart that, in return, are a blessing to our souls," Osmond, who learned to sew from her mother as a child, said in a statement. "Growing up in a family of singers, our home was always filled with music. However, one of the most comforting sounds that defined my childhood was the hum of the sewing machine."
