LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Katherine Jackson is suing AEG Live, alleging the U.S. concert producers didn't provide proper medical care for her son Michael, court records show.
Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009, at the age of 50. An investigation showed lethal levels of anesthesia and sedatives in his system.
Dr. Conrad Murray is awaiting trial on involuntary manslaughter in connection with the pop star's death, which happened while he was rehearsing for a series of AEG-produced concerts.
TMZ said Katherine Jackson's lawsuit claims the company breached its agreement to provide physical care for her son and was negligent in hiring Murray as his personal physician.
Murray is accused of administering the drugs to Michael Jackson to help him sleep.
"The purpose of this lawsuit is to prove to the world the truth about what happened to Michael Jackson, once and for all," attorney Brian J. Panish said in a statement released to TMZ.
The amount of damages Katherine Jackson is seeking was not reported.
