LOS ANGELES, July 30 (UPI) -- The California state attorney general's office said seven doctors and a nurse investigated will not be charged in the death of pop music icon Michael Jackson.

Jackson died June 25, 2009, in Los Angeles at age 50. Officials determined the cause of his death to be lethal amounts of the anesthesia propofol and sedatives.

His personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, is awaiting trial on a charge of involuntary manslaughter for allegedly administering the drugs that killed Jackson. However, authorities have said other doctors are believed to have provided Jackson with drugs to feed his alleged prescription addiction.

CNN said the medical practitioners who were the focus of the state attorney general's investigation will not face criminal charges because there was insufficient evidence of wrongdoing on their part.

Murray was not part of the investigation, Christine Gasparac, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Jerry Brown, told the news network.

"After reviewing hundreds of pages of records and documents obtained from the medical practitioners, the attorney general's office has referred one doctor, who wrote prescriptions to an alias known to have been used by Jackson, to the California medical board for further review," Gasparac said.
