Songwriter Larry Jon Wilson dead at 69

NASHVILLE, June 22 (UPI) -- Singer-songwriter Larry Jon Wilson has died after suffering a stroke in Roanoke, Va., The (Nashville) Tennessean reported Tuesday. He was 69.

Wilson had been visiting relatives when he died, the newspaper said.

Wilson, who was raised in Georgia, started his songwriting career when he was 30. His albums included "New Beginnings," "Let Me Sing My Song to You," "Loose Change" and "The Sojourner."

"The South will never be the same," Jerry DeCicca, who co-produced Wilson's self-titled 2009 CD, told The Tennessean. "He never stopped giving himself to his art."

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced, the newspaper said.
