Teen solves centuries-old math problem
LOS ANGELES, June 3 (UPI) -- The roots-rock band Los Lobos says it is boycotting Arizona by canceling its planned concert at The Talking Stick Resort.
The group said it decided to scrap its June 10 show because of the state's controversial new immigration law, the Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act.
"We support the boycott of Arizona," the Grammy Award-winning band said in a statement issued through its management Thursday. "The new law will inevitably lead to unfair racial profiling and possible abuse of people who just happen to look Latino. As a result, in good conscience, we could not see ourselves performing in Arizona. We regret the inconvenience this may have caused the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, Casino Arizona, Talking Stick Resort and our fans, but we feel strongly that it is the right thing to do."
