LOS ANGELES, June 2 (UPI) -- U.S. pop star Lady Gaga says she had been in talks to appear alongside Michael Jackson at his "This Is It" show in London when he suddenly died last year.

Jackson had been rehearsing for a residency at London's O2 arena when he died at the age of 50 of a propofol overdose in June 2009. His doctor, Conrad Murray, is awaiting trial on charges he improperly administered the anesthesia to help Jackson sleep.

"I don't necessarily like to talk about those very personal things that happened, but I guess I can speak about it now," Time quoted Lady Gaga as telling CNN's Larry King Tuesday night about the collaboration that never happened. "I was actually asked to open for Michael on his tour and we were going to open for him at the O2 and we were working on making it happen."

Lady Gaga said there had been the possibility of her performing with Jackson during the main show, as well, Time reported.
