Canadian rock trio refurbishes its hits

TORONTO, May 14 (UPI) -- The Canadian rock trio Triumph says its latest release is the result of wanting its music to sound better.

"Greatest Hits: Remixed" features sonically polished versions of 13 of the group's best-known songs -- including "Hold On," "Magic Power" and "Fight the Good Fight" -- as well as the previously unreleased "Love Hurts." The set also includes a DVD of songs videos.

"The original (compilation), 'Classics,' was a record-company commitment, and they cheaped out on the package," says bassist-keyboardist Mike Levine. "Every second e-mail we get from fans is, 'We want pictures. We want liner notes.' That was the reason for it -- fan pressure, more or less."

Levin says "Love Hurts" was recorded during the early '90s, when Triumph was making its last studio album, 1993's "Edge of Excess." The group -- which also includes guitarist Rik Emmett and drummer Gil Moore -- reunited for a pair of shows in 2008 but scratched a planned tour for 2009 due to the economy. But Levine says Triumph will likely tour at some point.

"We had fun playing the two dates we did," he said, "and it was a turning point to show us that, yeah, we can go on the road and we can still laugh together and have fun and play together as a band. So I think you'll see more of us at some point."
