NEW YORK, May 3 (UPI) -- "Ragtime" and "The Scottsboro Boys" led the field with nine nods each in nominations announced Monday for the 55th annual Drama Desk Awards in New York.
The winners are to be declared at a ceremony May 23.

Nominated for Outstanding Play are "My Wonderful Day," "Circle Mirror Transformation," "Happy Now?" "Red," "Next Fall" and "Clybourne Park."
In the running for Outstanding Musical are "American Idiot," "Everyday Rapture," "Memphis," "The Addams Family," "The Scottsboro Boys" and "Yank!"
Competing for the Outstanding Revival of a Play title are "A View from the Bridge," "Brighton Beach Memoirs," "Fences," "Hamlet," "So Help Me God!" and "The Boys in the Band."
The contenders for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical are "A Little Night Music," "Finian's Rainbow," "La Cage Aux Folles," "Promises, Promises" and "Ragtime."
The nominees for Outstanding Actor in a Play are Bill Heck from "The Orphans' Home Cycle," Jude Law from "Hamlet," Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne from "Red," Liev Schreiber from "A View from the Bridge," John Douglas Thompson from "The Emperor Jones" and Christopher Walken from "A Behanding in Spokane."
Vying for the Outstanding Actress in a Play honor are Ayesha Antoine for "My Wonderful Day," Melissa Errico for "Candida," Anne Hathaway for "Twelfth Night," Kristen Johnston for "So Help Me God!," Laura Linney for "Time Stands Still" and Jan Maxwell for "The Royal Family."
Up for the award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical are Brandon Victor Dixon of "The Scottsboro Boys," Douglas Hodge of "La Cage Aux Folles," Cheyenne Jackson of "Finian's Rainbow," Chad Kimball of "Memphis," Nathan Lane of "The Addams Family" and Bobby Steggert of "Yank!"
Nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Musical are Kate Baldwin for "Finian's Rainbow," Montego Glover for "Memphis," Jayne Houdyshell for "Coraline," Christiane Noll for "Ragtime," Sherie Rene Scott for "Everyday Rapture" and Catherine Zeta-Jones for "A Little Night Music."
