NEW YORK, April 30 (UPI) -- Musician and model Alexa Ray Joel underwent surgery on her nose this month at a New York hospital, a representative for Joel's family said.

Joel is the 24-year-old daughter of supermodel Christie Brinkley and rock 'n' roll icon Billy Joel.

"Alexa had breathing difficulties due to a deviated septum and decided to correct the appearance of her nose at the same time," the representative told the New York Post.

The publicist did not, however, confirm a Star magazine report claiming Brinkley went to the same hospital for a face-lift a day before Joel had her nose done.

"As far as Christie is concerned, she was at Lenox Hill to support her daughter, and throughout her career people have speculated that she's done this or that, which she always chooses to take as a compliment," the representative told the Post.
