'Idiot,' 'Fall' earn Outer Critics nods

NEW YORK, April 26 (UPI) -- "American Idiot," "Come Fly Away" and "Fela!" were nominated for outstanding new Broadway musical by the Outer Critics Circle in New York Monday.

Also nominated in the category are "Memphis" and "Sondheim on Sondheim."

The nominees for outstanding new Broadway play are"Next Fall," "Red," "Superior Donuts" and "Time Stands Still."

In the running for outstanding new off-Broadway musical are "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson," "The Scottsboro Boys," "Tin Pan Alley Rag" and "Yank!"

Vying for the title of outstanding new off-Broadway play are "Clybourne Park," "The Orphans' Home Cycle," "The Pride" and "The Temperamentals."

Up for outstanding revival of a play are "Fences," "Lend Me a Tenor," "The Royal Family" and "A View from the Bridge."

The contenders for outstanding revival of a musical are "La Cage aux Folles," "Finian's Rainbow," "A Little Night Music" and "Promises, Promises."

The winners of the Outer Critics Circle Awards are to be announced at a ceremony May 17 at Sardi's restaurant in Manhattan.
