LOS ANGELES, April 16 (UPI) -- Universal Music Publishing Group has announced it signed an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with "American Idol" winner Kris Allen. The deal encompasses Allen's self-titled album as well as future works during the term of the agreement, the label said Thursday.

"I look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Monti Olson and the creative staff at Universal Music Publishing Group," Allen said in a statement.
"I am proud that a songwriter of Kris's caliber would choose to make Universal Music Publishing Group his home. I look forward to the future with Kris," said Olson, a senior vice president at Universal.
Allen's post-"Idol" album was released in November 2009 through Jive Records.
Universal's roster of artists also includes "Idol" alums Chris Daughtry and Jason Castro.
