LONDON, April 11 (UPI) -- Thousands of BBC listeners have chosen former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante as the best rock guitarist in 30 years.
The BBC said Frusciante beat out former Guns n' Roses guitarist Slash, who finished No. 2; Matt Bellamy of Muse; Johnny Marr of The Smiths and Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello for the top spot.
Metallica's Kirk Hammet came in sixth, followed by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, Prince, Jack White and REM's Peter Buck filling out the Top 10.
About 30,000 listeners voted in the BBC 6 Music's Axe Factor poll conducted online, the BBC said.
