LOS ANGELES, April 6 (UPI) -- Whitney Houston's publicist says the U.S. pop star was forced to postpone a concert in Paris because she is suffering from an upper respiratory infection.

The recording star was scheduled to start the European leg of her tour in the French capital Tuesday night.

"Whitney is suffering from an upper respiratory infection and after a consultation with her doctors has been advised to postpone her performance," Houston's representative said in a statement issued to E! News. "Whitney and her band apologize that the show has to be rescheduled on such short notice."

Houston recently completed the Australian and Asian legs of her tour.

She is still expected to perform in Manchester, England, Thursday, E! News said.
