NEW YORK, April 1 (UPI) -- New York's Roundabout Theatre Company says the musical "Everyday Rapture" will replace "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" as its final production this season.

The company scrapped its plans for a revival of the comedy "Lips Together" at the American Airlines Theatre in Manhattan after actress Megan Mullally abruptly left the show this month shortly before previews were to begin.

"Rapture" stars Sherie Rene Scott, was penned by Scott and Dick Scanlan and is being directed by Michael Mayer.

The show is described as "the story of a young woman's psycho-sexual-spiritual journey on the rocky path that separates her mostly Mennonite past from her mostly Manhattan future."

It features songs made famous by David Byrne, Roberta Flack, Mister Rogers, The Supremes and Judy Garland, and a cast that includes Eamon Foley, Lindsay Mendez and Betsy Wolfe.

"This has been a unique experience for me, and I am grateful to have such seasoned professionals on board," Roundabout Artistic Director Todd Haimes said in a statement posted on the company's Web site Thursday.

"This team, alongside our Roundabout staff, will be condensing the work that we usually do with months, even years, of planning into a number of weeks. I want to thank everyone for their incredible work to make this production possible, and I am truly thrilled to offer such a wonderful show as the final production of our 2009-2010 season."
