Lil Wayne has eight root canals in a day

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- U.S. rapper Lil Wayne underwent eight root canals in a single day, sources told TMZ.

The entertainment news Web site reported the eight-hour procedure, during which several dental implants were also replaced, happened Tuesday.

The hip-hop artist was scheduled to begin a one-year prison sentence last week in New York for gun possession, but a judge said he could start serving March 2 instead so he could address his dental issues.

Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to weapons possession in exchange for the one-year prison sentence after police found a loaded gun in his tour bus.
