TORONTO, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Representatives for Leonard Cohen said the Canadian singer suffered a back injury that will delay his tour of Europe by six months.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said Saturday that specific details on Cohen's injury were not released other than the fact the singer was recommended to follow a regimen of physiotherapy.

Cohen, 75, was absent from the tour circuit for 10 years until he resumed touring in May 2008. The singer also appeared last week in Los Angeles to accept a lifetime achievement Grammy award.

Cohen's tour of Europe was scheduled to start on March 1 in Caen, France. The injury has pushed that start date back to Sept. 15.

The CBC said Cohen's touring efforts were also impacted last year when he collapsed on stage and was hospitalized in Spain. The incident was later blamed on food poisoning.
