LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Conrad Murray's attorney says Michael Jackson's physician is in Los Angeles and prepared to go to court if he is charged in the death of the pop icon.

"He'll be available," Murray's criminal defense lawyer J. Michael Flanagan told People.com Tuesday, adding he couldn't confirm reports claiming officials intend to charge Murray as early as Wednesday with involuntary manslaughter.

Jackson's death at age 50 was declared a homicide after lethal levels of the anesthesia propofol and sedatives were found in his system.

Murray, the singer's Texas-based personal physician, has been under investigation for his treatment of Jackson in the time leading up to his death.

Police have said Murray admitted he administered the drugs to Jackson to help him sleep shortly before he died June 25, 2009.

Murray has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and his lawyer has said he is fully cooperating with the investigation.
