LONDON, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Northern Irish singer Van Morrison says an announcement claiming he is a new father at 64 is untrue and was posted on his Web site by a hacker.

The message that appeared online this week said Morrison's companion, Gigi Lee, had given birth to George Ivan Morrison III. However, the BBC quoted one of Morrison's friends as saying he doesn't know anyone by the name of Gigi Lee.

"The comments which appeared on my Web site did not come from me," Morrison said Thursday in a statement issued to the British broadcaster. The incident was the second time in three months someone has tampered with his Web site, he said.

Morrison added he remains "very happily married to Michelle Morrison, with whom I have two wonderful children," the BBC reported.

The couple married in 1992. Morrison also has a daughter, singer-songwriter Shana Morrison, from his previous marriage to Janet Minto.
