LONDON, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Snow Patrol's 2006 single "Chasing Cars" was the most played song in England during the 2000s, the BBC reported.
"I think that the song has worked because it has an emotion that people can relate to," the band's front man and songwriter Gary Lightbody said.
The BBC said the song was also recently voted England's favorite of the decade for a Channel 4 program.
The music licensing body PPL said Take That's "Shine" was No. 2 in the 2000s' most played, followed by Scissor Sisters' "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" at No. 3, The Feeling's "Love it When You Call" at No. 4 and Sugababes's "About You Now" at No. 5.
Rounding out the top tier of the decade's most played songs are Take That's "Rule the World" at No. 6, James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" at No. 7, Kaiser Chiefs's "I Predict a Riot" at No. 8, Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" at No. 9 and Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" at No. 10.
