Lil Wayne's new CD shipped weeks early

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Amazon.com shipped out about 500 copies of U.S. rapper Lil Wayne's "Rebirth" about six weeks before it was set for release, Billboard.com said.

The CD's release reportedly had been pushed back several times, most recently from Dec. 21 to Feb. 1.

However, Billboard.com cited unnamed sources as saying hundreds of people who pre-ordered the album from Amazon.com started receiving it as early as this past Monday.

MTV News said Wednesday representatives for Amazon and Wayne's label, Universal Motown, could not be reached for comment.
